Job summary

Health Partners is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Physician to serve as Appeals Chair. You will lead medical appeal hearings under Pension and Injury Benefit Regulations, ensuring fair and impartial outcomes.

As Chair, you will oversee evidence review, draft the board report with rationale, and coordinate with the administrative team to manage hearings and reporting timelines. Home-based with UK travel to hearings, full or part-time hours offered.

Qualifications

• Requires exceptional organisational and leadership skills.
• Must ensure procedural fairness and impartiality throughout hearings.
• Strong analytical abilities to evaluate medical and procedural information.
• Effective communicator capable of producing clear, detailed reports.
• Able to work collaboratively with board members and administrative teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical appeal hearings in accordance with regulations.
• Ensure all information and evidence from appellant and authority is thoroughly considered.
• Oversee board review of medical evidence and examinations.
• Guide the board in reaching a fair and reasoned decision.
• Ensure the board's decision is not disclosed on the hearing day.
• Draft, review and finalise the board report with clear decision and rationale.
• Share finalised board report with all parties within 15 working days of the hearing.
• Provide timely guidance to the administrative team for hearing arrangements, appeal management and report production.
