Job description

Overview

About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About the role

Would you like to take part in building a team on maritime nuclear propulsion?

DNV offers classification services that are central to maritime safety and operational integrity. We also support the industry through a wide range of advisory, technical, and digital services. To further advance our capabilities in emerging energy technologies, Group Research and Development (GRD) is establishing a dedicated team on nuclear propulsion as part of the Maritime programme.

We are now seeking two Research Scientist to contribute to help define the direction of our research, assess risk methodologies, develop simulation tools, and collaborate with industry, government, and academia.

One position focuses on modelling and simulations of maritime nuclear propulsion, while the other position focuses on risk, safety and regulatory compliance.

Both positions are in Group Research and Development (GRD), which conducts strategic and applied research to support DNV’s long-term positioning and scientific credibility. The GRD Maritime programme explores how DNV can develop future classification services and also contribute to decarbonizing maritime transport and energy use. The programme is now expanding to include a new focus area on nuclear propulsion.

The positions as Research Scientist will be located at Høvik, Norway. The researcher reports to the Team leader for Nuclear Propulsion and the team is expected to be 3 members at this stage.
