Job description

Job Overview:

Are you passionate about hardware development and understanding how design choices impact power, performance, area, timing, and bandwidth? Do you enjoy analysing engineering data, investigating unexpected results, and helping teams make better technical decisions?

The GPU team at Arm is looking for an engineer to support hardware IP development, with a focus on tracking, analysing, and improving understanding of PPA quality throughout the project lifecycle. You will work with teams across hardware design, verification, modelling, performance, and implementation to investigate trends, regressions, feature impacts, and trade-offs in next-generation GPU products.

This role combines hardware development knowledge with data analysis, scripting, automation, and AI-assisted investigation. It requires curiosity about how hardware features, configurations, implementation choices, and operating conditions affect engineering metrics. While the role is focused on PPA analysis and methodology rather than direct RTL design, you will work closely with hardware teams and contribute to decisions that shape GPU IP quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyse engineering data to track PPA quality, investigate unexpected changes, understand feature impact, and support technical recommendations during GPU IP development.
  • Work with hardware, modelling, performance, and implementation teams to understand design trade-offs, validate results, flag suspicious data, and support product release activities.
  • Develop scripts, automation, reports, and AI-assisted workflows to make data handling, analysis, validation, and reporting more efficient and repeatable.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Foundation in digital hardware design or computer architecture, with basic understanding of how hardware choices, operating frequency, voltage, area, and implementation targets can affect power, performance, timing, and bandwidth.
  • Ability to analyse technical data, reason about trade-offs, investigate unexpected results, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Programming or scripting skills, for example Python, with interest in using automation and AI tools to accelerate engineering investigations and repetitive tasks.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with GPU architecture, graphics pipelines, RTL development, verification, modelling, implementation, or performance analysis.
  • Experience with data processing, organising engineering data, dashboards, visualisation, report automation, or AI-assisted coding and analysis.
  • Experience working with engineering flows, simulation results, performance counters, power estimates, implementation reports, or other hardware development data.
In Return:

You will have the opportunity to contribute to advanced GPU development by helping engineers understand, track, and improve PPA quality. You will learn how hardware IP progresses toward delivery, work with a wide range of engineering teams, and apply modern automation and AI-assisted methods to real hardware development challenges.
