Job summary

Vespa.ai is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Vespa Cloud team in Trondheim. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable systems, automating toil away, and improving observability across a global fleet. The position involves an on-call rotation and working closely with a nimble engineering group.

Based in our Trondheim office, you will be on-site most of the time with flexibility for remote work when agreed. Fluency in English is required; Norwegian is not required.

Qualifications

• Solid programming skills in Java, Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Incident management and on-call experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Norwegian is not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Vespa Cloud production systems at global scale.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation (approx. every 3rd–4th week) and drive durable fixes with postmortems.
• Eliminate toil by solving problems with automation and code.
• Build and improve observability across a large fleet (metrics, logging, tracing).
• Help define and track SLOs/SLIs and proactive alerting and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with the development team on reliability, scalability, and operability of new features.
