Job summary

The University of Oslo invites applications for a Researcher position in Geology-Petrology at the Njord Centre, Department of Geosciences, Norway. The appointment is full-time and runs until 31 December 2028, with starting date as soon as possible and no later than January 2027.

The successful candidate will study decarbonization of basalts in the North Atlantic, collaborate with Jarðfeingi, and apply SEM, X-ray tomography, borehole interpretation and hydrogeological assessments for the Faroe

Qualifications

  • Fluent oral and written communication in English.
  • Structural geology and petrology expertise.
  • Experience with imaging techniques (SEM, EBSD, X-ray microtomography).
  • Doctoral degree in Geology is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research within the DecarbFaroe project (geology, petrology, hydrogeology).
  • Collaborate with Jarðfeingi and other partners; publish results from the project.
