Job summary

The University of Oslo invites applications for a two-year, full-time Researcher in applied mineralogy and industrial mineral exploration based in the Department of Research and Collections, within the Norwegian Centre for Mineralogy Research Group. The position is part of the PureQ project focused on high-purity quartz.

The successful candidate will apply LA-ICP-MS and other microanalytical techniques to quartz, with travel within Norway and abroad as part of project collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD in geology or mineralogy.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct elemental microanalysis using LA-ICP-MS, including data processing and interpretation.
• A recent publication record relevant to the subject area of the position.
• A strong upward academic trajectory.
• Mastery of English as working language; Norwegian is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct applied mineralogy research using advanced microanalytical techniques.
• Characterise quartz and crystal chemistry for the PureQ project.
