Job summary

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
• Identify, diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical faults.
• Assist with maintaining and repairing equipment such as pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, valves, sensors, pipework and processing equipment.
• Assist with maintenance and fault finding on production and packaging lines.
• Carry out regular inspections and identify potential equipment problems before breakdowns occur.
• Assist with equipment setup, changeovers and production start-ups.
• Assist with the installation, adjustment and commissioning of new equipment.
• Perform basic electrical fault finding on motors, sensors, control circuits and equipment where competent to do so.
• Work with mechanical systems including pumps, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pneumatics and power transmission components.
• Assist with general repairs, maintenance and minor fabrication work where required.
• Participate in root cause analysis and assist in identifying solutions to recurring equipment problems.
• Keep maintenance areas, equipment and workshops clean, organised and safe.
• Complete maintenance records, job cards and relevant documentation accurately.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimise production downtime.
• Work closely with production staff to identify maintenance requirements and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company safety procedures and food manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to GMP and food safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime.

• Basic electrical fault-finding ability would be advantageous.
• Experience working with production or manufacturing equipment.

Minimum Requirement

• Valid drivers licence essential.
• 3 5 years hands-on maintenance experience in a food manufacturing, FMCG, production, packaging or similar environment would be advantageous.
• Formal maintenance/electrical/mechanical qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
