Job summary

ABB is seeking a Flow Simulation & Cost Engineer in Skien, Norway to model production flows and estimate costs. You will define Target Production Time and collaborate with Production, Process Technology, and Controlling teams to drive data-driven decisions.

The role requires MTM/REFA time measurement experience, strong analytics, and a solid background in manufacturing systems. Expect collaboration across departments to optimize layouts and throughput.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or Operations Research; relevant experience can compensate.
• Experience with discrete event simulation, preferably FlexSim.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, production flows, and capacity planning.
• Experience with cost analysis and cost estimation.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
• Experience with MTM and/or REFA time measurement methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform time studies with MTM and/or REFA methodologies.
• Optimize factory and line layouts to improve throughput and material flow.
• Develop and run production flow simulations using FlexSim.
• Perform scenario analyses to evaluate alternative processes, layout, and capacity concepts.
• Conduct capacity modeling for current and future volume scenarios.
• Analyze production cost drivers and perform cost analysis across different scenarios.
• Deliver early-stage cost estimations to support product and industrialization decisions.
