Job summary

The City of Guelph is seeking a Licensed Automotive/Truck and Coach Technician or Apprentice Technician in the Operations Department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Fleet Services, you will work on a variety of light and heavy vehicles and equipment.

If you hold 310T or 310S, you may join our Apprenticeship Program with full wages paid during 'day release' in-school sessions and employer-funded tuition, books, parking and exam costs.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma and 4 years relevant experience in maintenance/repair of light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Must possess a valid Truck and Coach (310T) License or Automotive Service Technician (310S) License; preference for both.
• Must possess a valid DZ license or a G license with ability to obtain DZ within timeframe; good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose issues with diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, steering and related components.
• Perform hydraulic repairs and service, lubricate, refuel, change oil, service tires and batteries.
• Maintain accurate records and a neat workplace.
• Assist with apprentice training and communicate issues to Lead Hand/Supervisor.
