What To Expect
As a Field Quality Engineering Technician, you play a crucial role in the Field Quality Team, a part of the Customer Quality organization. Your field-based investigations, tests, and audits gather data to drive continuous improvement of vehicle performance and component reliability in the factory, and together with the Field Quality Engineer, you create a fast, detailed, and superior feedback loop for Quality Issues. The expertise in vehicle systems, software, and hardware engineering tools helps identify trends, root causes of failure, and other areas of improvement, directly influencing product quality and customer satisfaction.
What You\'ll Do
- Field Data Collection & Analysis
- Conducting field studies on engineering, mileage accumulation, customer, or competition fleet cars.
- Using tools and techniques not widely available to Service Operations.
- Audit processes or environmental factors post factory gate, to customer hands.
- Low volume component teardown for initial failure analysis.
- Develop, build, and perform system or component bench-tests to understand failure mode signatures and/or validation of corrective actions.
- Participate in user acceptance tests (UAT).
- Engineering Fleet Support
- Engineering Fleet Maintenance & Inspection
- Test-Vehicle Instrumentation
- Engineering Workshop Maintenance
- Data Management & Reporting
- Work closely with Field Quality Engineers to align field findings with internal quality standards.
- Use data analytics tools to interpret field data, track trends, and produce reports on vehicle quality and reliability.
- Present data-driven insights and recommendations to engineering and product development teams.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a liaison between the Service Operation teams and Quality Engineering department, relaying key insights from the field.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop corrective and preventive action plans for recurring quality issues.
- Suggest enhancements to data collection methods and processes to improve field data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
