Director Product Management and Regulatory Affairs

About the Unit

Yara Clean Ammonia (YCA) is a global segment within Yara with the objective to commercialize, develop and capture growth opportunities within clean hydrogen and ammonia production, transport, market and distribution. The unit includes activities related to Upstream Projects &Technology, Commercial development of New Markets for Ammonia, Trade & Shipping, Product & Portfolio Management, and Central Expert and Support functions. To fully develop the business potential, the segment will also explore partnerships and collaboration with external parties, while ensuring the important role that ammonia plays in Yara’s integrated business model.


Yara Clean Ammonia is looking for a Director Product Managment and Regulatory Affairs. The position will report to SVP Product Management & Certification. The preferred location is Oslo or Brussels.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of YCAs clean ammonia product portfolio through knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance certification schemes.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with environmental regulatory changes affecting the clean ammonia industry (such as Fit-for-55 (RED, Gas Package, AFIR) and US IRA (45Q, 45V) etc.).
  • Analyse regulatory requirements and policies to identify potential risks, propose policy asks and strategies to influence policy makers, and provide guidance to the organisation on the impact.
  • Responsible for briefing management on the regulatory initiatives and implications of current and future regulations impacting the clean ammonia business.
  • Support the commercial teams in their development of business opportunities and develop value propositions based upon insight into carbon footprint standards, regulations, and policies and how these can influence business opportunities and decisions in collaboration with rest of PM&C team.
  • Support the business development and project teams on requirements needed for products to be compliant with regulations.
  • Build strong relationships internally within YCA and Yara (Yara Corporate Affairs and Yara Global Plants) as well as with external associations that is driving the future regulatory standards.
Profile
  • Master’s degree, preferably environmental or chemical engineering.
  • Experience with or knowledge of hydrogen or ammonia production processes.
  • Insight and experience with environmental policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of or experience with public advocacy and EU (and/or member state) legislative processes is considered a benefit.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to review and interpret complex regulations and their impact on company operation.
  • Business minded and understanding commercial aspects to quickly grasp the impacts of an existing or upcoming policy, regulation or standard on the business.
  • Good communication and influencing skills to coordinate different stakeholders and explain complex regulatory information to a wide range of audiences.
  • A collaborative team player able to work in a high paced changing environment.
