Job summary

Spektrum seeks a senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to support NATO JWC projects in Stavanger, focusing on hybrid/on-prem infrastructure and a transition to containerised, cloud-deployable operations. Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or software development.
  • Strong experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar.
  • Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar.
  • Experience deploying and orchestrating containerised applications (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native patterns.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
  • Preferred: CI/CD tooling, monitoring, and secrets management.

  • Configure tools and scripts to automate infrastructure tasks and enforce security policies.
  • Monitor load, performance, and security metrics using infrastructure management tools.

  • Contribute to planning and execution of infrastructure maintenance and cloud-transition projects.
  • Advise on transforming applications from traditional to cloud-deployable architectures.

Spektrum supports apex purchasers (NATO, UN, EU, and National Government and Defence) and their Tier 1 supplier ecosystem with a wide range of specialist services. Who we are supporting

The NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC), located in Stavanger, Norway, is NATO’s premier centre for joint operational and strategic-level collective training and warfare development. As part of the NATO Command Structure and reporting to Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), the JWC directly supports both SACT and Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) by strengthening the operational readiness, interoperability, and effectiveness of NATO Command and Force Structure Headquarters. Through its multinational workforce, the Centre plays a critical role in preparing the Alliance for current and emerging security challenges.

The department we are supporting is responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of operational and strategic-level exercises and training activities, while integrating warfare development, experimentation, concept development, and lessons learned into NATO's training programmes. By delivering technologically integrated, multi-domain exercises and maintaining joint doctrine and standards, the JWC enhances NATO's decision-making capabilities, interoperability, and warfighting readiness, ensuring the Alliance remains prepared to respond effectively across the full spectrum of military operations.

Role Background

This role supports the technical infrastructure underpinning NEC CCIS, a NATO-owned Air C2 system used across the NATO Command and Force Structure. The successful candidate will helpmaintainexisting hybrid/on-premiseinfrastructure while contributing to the System Support Centre's transition toward containerised, cloud-deployable operations.
