Job summary

Silicon Labs in Oslo leads IC design for MCU and Wireless products, collaborating with teams in Austin and Singapore. As an IC Design Engineer, you will join either Analog or Digital design teams to develop key analogue and digital functions for our MCUs and Wireless MCUs.

The role emphasizes low power, high integration, and close collaboration with hardware, software, and marketing teams to define and deliver features within our Gecko MCU platforms.

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Strong verification skills (circuit simulation).
  • Familiarity with Cadence, Linux and Python is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design and verify analog and digital circuits for IoT products.
  • Determine design approaches and parameters.
  • Oversee custom layout and layout designers.
  • Evaluate design results with laboratory measurements of ICs.
  • Report design results in design reviews per quality requirements and resolve action items.

How Silicon Labs Norway Works

We are an elite team of IC Design, IC Validation, Software and HW/Tools engineers focused on developing and validating key components of the Silicon Labs IoT product portfolio. Our team has a deep understanding of all aspects of our MCU and Wireless products, from design to delivering a complete customer friendly system. Silicon Labs EFR32 and EFM32 MCU and Wireless product portfolios both originate from the Norway team. We take great pride in the technology that we deliver. How the Oslo Design Teams work

The EFR32 and EFM32 MCU and Wireless products combine an energy-friendly MCU with a highly integrated radio transceiver. These devices are well suited for a variety of applications across a wide range of RF protocols, digital protocols, and power levels. The design teams consist of a combination of more experienced designers and young talents that are given a perfect opportunity to develop within the field. We work in close collaboration with sites in Austin and Singapore. We deliver a low power, simplicity focused platform, which is the base for all Silicon Labs MCUs and Wireless MCUs. We leverage our history of low power, simplicity focused designs to make the best products for the future of the Silicon Labs IoT story, while having fun.

As an IC Design Engineer in our Oslo IC Design organization, you will join either the Analog Design team or the Digital Design team.

The teams collaborate closely to develop key analog and digital functions for Silicon Labs' MCUs and Wireless MCUs.

As a Design Engineer you will work with our other hardware design teams, software teams and the marketing department to define and deliver key features within the low power Gecko MCU and Wireless MCU platform.

Essential Functions
  • Architect, design and verify analog and digital circuits for our IOT products.
  • Determine design approaches and parameters.
  • Responsible for custom layout, including overseeing the work of layout designers.
  • Conduct evaluation of design results by laboratory measurements of ICs.
  • Report on design results through design reviews, in accordance with company quality requirements and resolves action items generated from these reviews.
Desired Skills
  • M.S. or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering.
  • Both newly graduated and more experienced candidates will be considered.
  • Verification skills (e.g., circuit simulation)
  • Experience with Cadence design tools, Linux and Python is an advantage
  • Digital design team: Foundation in digital logic, computer architecture, or embedded systems
  • Exposure to digital verification through simulation, testbenches, assertions, or formal methods is an advantage
  • Familiarity with synthesis, timing, and power/area tradeoffs is an advantage
  • Analog design team: Design skills and knowledge related to building blocks (e.g., OPAMP, power management circuits, ADC, DAC, oscillators, memories, bandgap references, PLL)
  • Understanding of layout tradeoffs for performance and size
  • Laboratory measurement skills
