Job summary

OSM Thome Limited is seeking an Able Seaman to support safe vessel operations, deck maintenance, watchkeeping, mooring, and workplace safety onboard. You will assist with navigation-related tasks, report hazards, and actively participate in drills and training.

The role requires a minimum of 1 year as an Ordinary Seaman or similar rating, with STCW certification and a Deck Watchkeeping Certificate preferred. English proficiency and strong professionalism are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ordinary Seaman or similar deck rating.
• Previous seagoing experience as Able Seaman is advantageous.
• Familiarity with bridge watchkeeping duties, lookout, voice radio. (note: keep as described)
• Valid STCW certification relevant to the position.
• Deck Watchkeeping Certificate or equivalent preferred.
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Maritime background and vessel operations experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine deck maintenance, preservation, and cleaning of decks and fittings.
• Assist with minor repairs and maintenance of deck machinery under senior officers.
• Support mooring, anchoring, gangway operations, and rope handling.
• Maintain a vigilant lookout and report navigational hazards or safety concerns.
• Operate steering as required and follow helm orders from officers.
• Comply with company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Participate in safety drills and onboard training programs.
• Assist in coaching less experienced deck personnel.
• Promote environmental awareness and professional conduct onboard.
• Perform additional deck-related duties as assigned.
