Job summary

Cognite, a leader in industrial digitalization, seeks a Data Scientist to collaborate with Data Engineers, Solution Architects, and Project Managers across Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Pharma, and more. You’ll develop scalable ML solutions, perform data exploration, and deploy models within Cognite Data Fusion, using GenAI to unlock asset efficiency and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• 1–4 years of data science experience preferred, preferably in related industry.
• Proficient in Python and SQL; experience with AI IDEs (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) is a plus.
• Experience with machine learning methods, statistics, and optimization; familiarity with Git.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy scalable data science solutions for multiple industries (Oil & Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Pharma, Life Sciences, Power & Utilities).
• Lead client discovery workshops and translate problems into data-driven solutions.
• Perform data cleansing, exploration, and model development; deploy models to hosting environments.
• Apply GenAI techniques to enhance data-driven decision making in use cases.
• Build web apps on Cognite Data Fusion with AI agents and reusable templates.

How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

As a Data Scientist within Cognite’s EMEA Delivery team, you will collaborate with cross-functional experts—Data Engineers, Solution Architects, and Project Managers to deploy and scale digital solutions for heavy industries like Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Pharma, Power & Utilities, Life-Sciences

You will work directly with industry leaders to drive digital transformation: leading client discovery workshops, uncovering insights from complex data, and operationalizing scalable solutions that make heavy assets more efficient and sustainable.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• Develop and deploy scalable solutions for customer use cases from Oil and Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Pharma, Life-Sciences, Power & Utilities industries using Cognite’s core capabilities
• Participate in and contribute to intensive use case generation workshops with subject matter experts to understand the problem and how it maps to the data
• Perform data cleansing and exploratory data analysis
• Implement physical models / machine learning models in Python and deploy to our model hosting environment
• Apply GenAI techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making in customer use cases
• Develop web applications built on Cognite Data Fusion with the help of AI agents
• Utilize and contribute to solution templates and best practices within the Data Science team
• Collaborate with data engineers, project managers and solution architects on project deliveries to enable our customers to achieve the full potential of our industrial DataOps platform
• Support customers and partners in conducting data science tasks with Cognite products

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 1-4 years of relevant work experience as a data scientist (preferably within related industry)
• Proficient experience with Python, SQL and AI IDEs such as Claude Code, Cursor. Experience with efficient usage of AI tools is a plus
• Experience with machine learning methods and techniques, statistics and/or optimization
• Experience with Git
• Experience working customer faced, with external customers
• Enjoy working in cross-functional teams
• Enjoy challenges and dare to set ambitious goals that drive innovation
• Humility to ask for help and enjoy sharing knowledge with others
