Job summary

Thor is engineering and construction contractor leading a multi-billion, large-scale data centre development in Norway. We are expanding the project team to strengthen cost control processes and deliverables across several contracts, working directly with senior project leadership on complex, fast-paced environments.

The role requires substantial cost control experience, on-site credibility, and a strong commercial mindset to oversee budgets, forecasts and change tracking while supporting

Qualifications

• Substantial cost control experience leading or mentoring teams.
• Background in data centres, oil and gas, construction or comparable complex projects.
• Project-based experience with credibility on site and in the project team.
• Strong commercial and contractual understanding.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and manage the cost control team, setting priorities and standards.
• Establish and maintain consistent cost control processes, methods and reporting across contracts.
• Oversee budgets, forecasts, cost reports and change tracking across multiple contracts.
• Act as the main cost control interface to senior project management and the client.
• Ensure change orders and claims are identified, documented and supported by evidence.
• Review team outputs for accuracy and quality, and step in where needed.

Our client is an engineering and construction contractor delivering a multi-billion, large-scale data centre development in Norway. As the programme continues to grow, they are expanding the project team across several new contracts. You'll join at a key stage, work on a complex multi-discipline scope, help shape processes and ways of working, and work directly with senior project leadership.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and manage the cost control team, setting priorities and standards
• Establish and maintain consistent cost control processes, methods and reporting across contracts
• Oversee budgets, forecasts, cost reports and change tracking across multiple contracts
• Act as the main cost control interface to senior project management and the client
• Ensure change orders and claims are identified, documented and supported by evidence
• Review team outputs for accuracy and quality, and step in where needed
• Support recruitment and onboarding as the team scales

Requirements:

• Substantial cost control experience, including leading or mentoring teams on major projects
• Background in data centers, oil and gas, construction or comparable complex, fast-paced project environments
• Project-based experience, with credibility on site and in the project team
• Strong commercial and contractual understanding
• Ability to build structure and routines in a developing organisation
• Right to work in Norway, and fluent English
