Job summary

Prestige Talent is seeking a contract Librarian for our Os location in Japan. The successful candidate will manage collections, assist patrons with research, and oversee circulation duties. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply alongside experienced librarians.

The position offers a monthly salary of $1,400, and applicants must have or obtain a valid visa to work in Japan. Japanese language proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years library experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the library's collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and other materials.
• Assist patrons with research inquiries and provide reference services.
• Oversee circulation desk operations including checking out materials, processing returns, and collecting fines/fees.
• Create displays to promote new resources or highlight specific topics or themes.
• Plan and conduct programs for children and adults such as story times, book clubs, or workshops.
• Maintain accurate records of library usage statistics and prepare reports as needed.
• Train new staff members on library procedures and policies.
• Stay up-to-date with current trends in librarianship through professional development opportunities.
