The unit handles severe mental disorders with and without substance use, with a broad county-wide function and multidisciplinary collaboration with relatives. A police certificate is required on offer.

Qualifications

• Norwegian authorization as a physician.
• Specialist approval in psychiatry; LIS3 with a short time remaining of specialization in psychiatry are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with supervision of LIS3 is desirable.
• Experience with professional responsibility for patients with a court order for transfer to compulsory mental health care is desirable.

Job description

Sørlandet sykehus HF is responsible for specialist health services for the population in Agder. The Psychiatric Hospital Department is one of eight departments at the Clinic for Mental Health - psychiatry and addiction treatment. The department is divided into section Kristiansand, Arendal section and the habilitation service for adults (HAVO).

Psychiatric Hospital Department section Kristiansand moved into the New Building for Mental Health in March 2023. At the New Building for Mental Health, the Psychiatric Hospital Department has seven inpatient units with ten inpatient beds each and an outpatient clinic. Clinicians are attached to a large office area on the second floor which provides the opportunity for close collaboration with other colleagues.

Unit for psychosis and substance use disorders (unit 5) is a closed inpatient unit that offers assessment and treatment of severe mental disorders with and without concurrent substance use addiction. The unit has a county-wide function.

We have a vacant 100% permanent position as consultant in psychiatry at the Unit for psychosis and substance use disorders. Specialists in psychiatry and physicians with a short time remaining of specialization in psychiatry are encouraged to apply. Start date by agreement.

Upon offer of employment, a satisfactory police certificate issued in Norway must be presented.
