Job summary

John Sisk & Son Ltd in Norway is seeking a Commissioning Lead for our Data Centre team. You will plan, coordinate and oversee the commissioning phase to ensure systems are installed, tested and operate to design specs and industry standards.

Collaborate with engineering, operations and construction, manage resources, lead FATs/SATs, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and deliver documentation and training for handover.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with commissioning software/tools and methodologies.
  • Certifications such as PMP or CCP are a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IEEE, IEC).

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with design, construction, and operations to align commissioning activities with milestones.
  • Define and allocate resources for commissioning activities.
  • Review designs to ensure commissioning requirements are met.
  • Lead FATs and SATs testing.
  • Ensure safety, performance, and regulatory compliance during testing.
  • Address technical issues during commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee on-site commissioning activities and health & safety compliance.
  • Direct pre-commissioning, functional testing, and performance verification.
  • Transition completed systems to operations with documentation and training.
  • Maintain accurate records including test results and progress reports.
  • Submit detailed commissioning reports and recommendations for future projects.
  • Update as-built docs and final system certificates.

Overview

We are seeking a Commissioning Lead to join our Data Centre team in Norway. The Commissioning Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the commissioning phase of a project. This includes ensuring systems, equipment, and processes are installed, tested, and functioning according to design specifications and industry standards. The role involves collaboration with engineering, operations, and construction teams to meet project objectives safely, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures in collaboration with project stakeholder
  • Coordinate with design, construction, and operations teams to align commissioning activities with project milestones.
  • Define and allocate resources, including manpower, tools, and materials, for commissioning activities.
  • Review project designs, specifications, and drawings to ensure commissioning requirements are met.
  • Lead and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
  • Ensure systems are tested for safety, performance, reliability, and compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Identify and address technical issues during commissioning, troubleshooting problems,
  • Oversee onsite commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Direct pre-commissioning, functional testing, and performance verification of systems.
  • Supervise the transition of completed systems to operations, ensuring all documentation and training are delivered.
  • Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, including test results, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Generate and submit detailed commissioning reports, including lessons learned and recommendations for future projects.
  • Ensure as-built documentation is updated and final system certifications are completed.
Experience
  • Strong technical knowledge in [specific domain, e.g., mechanical, electrical, or control systems].
  • Experience in commissioning, project management, or construction with Data centre experience .
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities under pressure.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills for managing diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to commissioning activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with commissioning software/tools and methodologies.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), or industry‑specific credentials are a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IEEE, IEC, or others relevant to the sector).
