Job summary

We're looking for a Chief Product Officer to lead the product vision at Take Take Take, defining what it means to build the world's best chess platform for improvers, and shipping it with a small, exceptional team.

About Take Take Take

Co‑founded by 5x World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, Take Take Take is building a new home for modern chess. An AI‑powered platform for casual players, to get personalized coaching, play chess, and share their learning journey with friends.

We've already built a significant presence in the chess world, reaching 5 million people every month with our content. We just launched our new product, and are incredibly excited about the future. Take Take Take is backed by SNÖ, Coatue, Lovable, Patrick Collison and others. We’re a small team in Oslo and London, and on a journey to give 600 million Chess players a new home. The Role

As CPO, you'll own the product vision for Take Take Take — a chess platform built specifically for improvers, with Play, Social, and Coach as its three core pillars. AI is at the core of everything we build.

You'll lead a small, dedicated group of exceptional engineers and designers who operate with high autonomy. We work in squads organised around product bets, each with a defined appetite and a clear goal: ship, measure, learn. You'll set the direction, remove ambiguity, and make sure the team is always working on the highest‑leverage things.

This role reports directly to the CEO and is a key voice in how we grow, what we build, and who we are as a company.

What You’ll Do

Define and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the platform, grounded in a deep understanding of the improver chess audience.

Manage and grow a cross‑functional team of engineers and designers, structured in focused squads around product bets.

Prioritise ruthlessly, set appetites for bets, and ensure the team is always working on the things that move real metrics.

Put social dynamics and AI‑powered personalisation at the heart of every product decision.

Shape Play, Social, and Coach into a coherent, delightful experience that keeps improvers coming back.

Build a culture of shipping to learn, using data and qualitative insight to make fast, well‑informed decisions.

Work closely with Growth, Finance, and the founders to align product direction with commercial strategy.

Must‑Haves

• Prior experience as CPO or VP Product at a consumer‑facing startup. You know what good looks like.
• Track record of scaling a consumer product internationally. You've navigated the messiness of growth and come out with a better product.
• Strong instincts for social product design. You understand how people connect, compete, and come back.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams of engineers and designers with high autonomy.
• Comfortable with AI‑native product thinking. You see AI as a design material, not a feature to add.
• A sharp editorial eye. You know how to cut scope, make trade‑offs, and keep a team focused.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills. You can inspire a team and align stakeholders.

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Experience in gaming, edtech, or subscription consumer products.
• Familiarity with chess or a genuine interest in learning the game deeply.
• Background working in small, high‑output product teams.
• Experience with squad/shape‑up or appetite‑based product development methods.
