Job summary

Varnish Software in Oslo is seeking a Software Engineer to join our new Product Engineering team. You will help build self-hosted, distributed systems, primarily in Go, with Rust for high-performance components, and contribute to the Data Fabric suite across on-prem and managed platforms.

The role emphasizes architectural ownership, long-term projects, and a culture of quality, with opportunities to influence design decisions and work across Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Strong backend software development experience with Go; deep CS fundamentals and distributed systems knowledge.
• Ability to design and reason about concurrency, networks and data consistency in large-scale systems.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux in self-hosted environments.

Responsibilities

• System Architecture & Implementation: contribute to the Data Fabric suite and solve complex challenges.
• Technical Ownership: take ownership from RFC/design through testing and delivery.
• Drive Innovation: challenge architectural assumptions and propose alternative approaches.
• Write maintainable, tested code and participate in rigorous code reviews.
