Job summary

MDE Norge seeks an experienced professional to contribute to Safety and Automation Systems (SAS) on offshore projects. You will produce and revise complex documentation, develop installation work packages, and deliver front-end loading studies, while ensuring disciplined quality checks.

You will interact with clients and suppliers to identify optimal technical solutions, leveraging extensive offshore experience and standards knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Automation or Cybernetics.
• 7–12 years’ SAS experience in modification projects for operating systems.
• Experience with offshore installations while in operation.
• Control Room design focus, ISO 11064.
• Concept/Detail studies and project phases experience.
• Offshore system knowledge: process, electrical, telecom, utility.
• Understand main operator requirements and supplier solutions.
• Familiar with high/low voltage system design philosophies.
• Knowledge of IEC 61850, GOOSE, MMS, PTP, SV interfaces.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (61508/61511).
• ISO 11064 – Human Factor Engineering.
• Cyber security considerations for electrical systems (IEC 62443).
• Relevant standards including NPD, ATEX, IEC61892, Norsok.
• Able to work independently and in a team; strong communication.
• Systematic, accurate, deadline-driven, loyal to quality.

Responsibilities

• Produce new documentation and drawings including SCD and loop drawings.
• Revise existing documentation and drawings to reflect changes.
• Create work packages for offshore installation.
• Deliver outputs for studies and FEL work.
• Prepare SAS documentation; ensure quality of deliverables.
• Discipline check and approve documents and drawings.
• Order automation materials for offshore installs and interpret P&IDs.
• Discuss with client and vendors to find optimal technical solutions.

Job Description

• Produce new documentation and drawings such as Cauce&Effect, System Control Diagrams (SCD) diagrams, loop drawings for process, Fire&Gas and safety systems; IS Loop Calculations.
• Revise existing documentation and drawings.
• Produce work packages for installation.
• Produce deliverables for studies and Front End Loading (FEL) work.
• Produce documentation for Safety and Automation Systems (SAS).
• Discipline check and approval of produced documents and drawings in the project.
• Order all automation materials needed for offshore installation, and must be able to understand P&IDs and drawings from different disciplines.
• Discussions with client and vendor representatives in order to find optimal technical solutions.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation/Cybernetics.
• 7-12 years' experience with SAS systems in modification projects for systems in operation.
• Modifications on offshore installations when in operation.
• Control Room Design (typically Automation part), ISO 11064.
• Concept/Detail Studies and project phases.
• Offshore system knowledge (process/electrical/telecom/utility systems, BPCS and SIS).
• Technical requirements and tools from offshore operators.
• Main suppliers technical solutions for SAS/IACS/OT (Emerson, Siemens, ABB, Kongsberg, Honeywell).
• Suppliers technical solutions for High and Voltage systems and philosophies for system design.
• IEC 61850 and latest protocols/interfaces (GOOSE, MMS, PTP, SV).
• IEC 61508/61511 – Safety Instrumented Systems.
• ISO 11064 – Human Factor Engineering.
• Cyber security in general and in special for electrical systems (IEC 62443 as IACS/OT).
• Relevant standards such as NPD, ATEX, IEC61892 and Norsok.
• The ability to work independently, as well as in a team.
• Good communication skills, written and oral.
