Job summary

The Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo invites applications for a two-year, full-time position as a Researcher in applied mineralogy and industrial mineral exploration, based in the Department of Research and Collections.

The successful candidate will have a strong publication record and demonstrated experience with modern microanalytical techniques for mineral characterization, particularly quartz, with expertise in crystal chemistry and microtextural analysis.

Qualifications

• PhD in geology or mineralogy.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct elemental microanalysis using LA-ICP-MS, including data processing and interpretation.
• A recent publication record relevant to the subject area of the position.
• A strong upward academic trajectory.

Responsibilities

• Apply modern microanalytical techniques for mineral characterization, especially quartz.
• Engage in mineral exploration activities and drill-core logging as part of the project.
• Collaborate across departments to advance the PureQ project goals.
