Lace Lithography in Bergen, Norway is hiring an AMO Experimental Physicist/Engineer to lead development of beam conditioning systems. You will work with physicists, chemists and developers to turn R&D concepts into robust product architectures, applying deep theoretical knowledge with hands-on laser cooling and atomic physics experiments.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics or related field with AMO focus.
  • Experience with laser cooling and atom optics.
  • Hands-on optical alignment and vacuum systems experience.
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Experimental Development: Design, build, and optimize experimental setups involving laser cooling, atomic beams, and metastable atom sources.
  • System Optimization: Improve beam conditioning modules for flux, control, and long-term stability.
  • Diagnostics: Develop and implement advanced diagnostic systems (spectroscopy, beam profilers).
  • Hardware Integration: Collaborate with optomechanical and CAD engineers to improve AMO systems.
  • Operational Support: Deploy Lace systems and provide training to new AMO Squad members.
  • Documentation: Contribute to technical background documents and design reviews with calculations and references.
