Job summary

eMedia Monitor in Austria (Vienna offices) seeks a Software Engineer to own the infrastructure and development of our global media capture engine. You will build and maintain systems that record thousands of live radio and TV streams from around the world, balancing high availability, low latency and capture quality.

This role sits at the crossroads of backend engineering, AI integration, DevOps and media technology.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in software architecture and scalable code design.
• Experience integrating AI models into production workflows.
• Deep experience with Linux administration and remote server management.
• Proficiency in Perl, Python and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP networking and streaming protocols (HLS, RTMP, RTSP, SRT).
• Hands-on media processing with FFmpeg or GStreamer.
• Experience with web-based video players and SaaS infrastructure.
• SaaS mindset for high-availability systems serving professional clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications for recording and archiving live streams (TV/Radio etc).
• Handle capture, processing and archiving of traditional and social media content.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of the capture infrastructure.
• Manage Linux servers in remote data centers for high-throughput media traffic.
• Improve monitoring and failover to ensure 24/7 uptime.
• Optimize transcoding pipelines to balance cost and quality.
• Ensure AI subsystems are accurate and performant in the pipeline.
• Measure and report KPIs for the capture platform.
• Oversee CI/CD, testing and deployment workflows.
• Build and maintain a global knowledge base of media stations and channels.
• Integrate AI models for content analysis (speech-to-text, OCR, scene detection).
