Job summary

TU Delft invites applications for a Postdoc in the Application of eXtended Reality for Inclusive Automated Vehicle and Road User Interaction. You will design inclusive eHMIs, develop VR simulators, and conduct experiments to model AV–VRU decision-making.

Work with a multidisciplinary team in the Mobility in eXtended Reality Lab. The position focuses on XR technologies, experimental design, data analysis, and dissemination of results.

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD in a relevant field such as Transportation, HCI, or Computer Science.
• Solid XR background with skills in Unity/Unreal for developing XR apps.
• Strong experimental design, setup, execution and data collection experience.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
• Programming proficiency in Python and C#, with statistics knowledge.
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative research environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong publication record in scientific journals.

Responsibilities

• Develop a theoretical framework for AV–VRU interactions and design criteria for inclusive eHMIs.
• Develop accessible VR simulators for people with disabilities.
• Conduct VR experiments to model decision-making in AV–VRU interactions.
• Perform real-world testing to evaluate inclusive eHMI designs.
• Collaborate with researchers, mentor PhD students, contribute to lab projects.
• Publish in high-impact journals and present findings at conferences.
