Job summary

Mizuho Bank Europe N.V. (MBE) in Amsterdam is seeking a Regulatory Counsel at Vice President level to guide the bank through European and Dutch financial rules.

The role reports to Head of Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs and will sit in the Legal, Regulatory & Corporate Affairs department. The successful candidate has extensive experience with financial regulations, a master's degree in law, and excellent English, with additional Dutch/German/French/Spanish/Japanese language skills valued.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of Dutch and European financial rules and regulations.
• Ability to translate complex legal problems into practical guidance.
• 6+ years of experience with financial regulations, e.g. at a law firm or in-house at a regulator/financial institution.
• Master’s degree in law, preferably with financial regulations specialization.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Dutch/German/French/Spanish/Japanese language skills are appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Guide regulatory strategy and shape MBE’s Regulatory Affairs function.
• Provide pragmatic regulatory expertise to other teams as a specialist.
• Support interactions with national and EU regulatory authorities.
• Lead horizon scanning to keep stakeholders informed of regulatory changes.
• Oversee regulatory change implementation across the company.
• Prepare and submit applications, submissions and filings to regulators.
• Collaborate with regional colleagues and external counsel to validate regulatory solutions.
