Job summary

Abstraction Games, a Dutch game co-development studio, seeks a visionary and experienced Character Art Lead to guide the artistic vision from concept to delivery, creating key character assets and coordinating art production across AAA projects.

You will collaborate with creative and technical leads, translate concept art into production-ready assets, and help set up Unreal Engine workflows while mentoring the character team to ensure on-time delivery with high fidelity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a Character Artist in game development, with lead/senior on shipped AAA titles.
• Portfolio demonstrating realistic human anatomy and creature work.
• Experience taking 2D concepts to game-ready 3D assets.

Responsibilities

• Translate concept art into production-ready character assets (high‑poly sculpts, game‑ready meshes, UVs, PBR textures).
• Create key assets setting quality bars for the character team.
• Collaborate with Art Director and concept artists to interpret visual direction.
• Implement assets in Unreal Engine with materials, shaders, LODs, and in‑game setup.
• Lead and review the character art team, providing feedback and hands-on support.
• Maintain character art workflows, best practices, and documentation.
