TNO in The Hague is seeking a Scientist Underwater Operations to develop software predicting sonar performance and to plan missions with autonomous underwater drones. You will collaborate with a team of researchers across multiple projects, and translate ideas into demonstrators while conducting sea experiments.

We expect 3–5 years of software development in Matlab, Python, and/or C++, and an MSc or PhD in a technical field.

Qualificações

• MSc or PhD in a technical field such as physics, astronomy, electrical engineering, computer science, operations research or geophysics.
• 3–5 years of software development experience in Matlab, Python and/or C++.
• Proactive, creative problem solver with clear and persuasive communication.
• Ath to operate in international and military contexts (e.g., European or NATO projects).

Responsabilidades

• Understanding how systems can be used in the underwater domain.
• Research on optimizing planning, simulation and evaluation of missions with autonomous underwater drones.
• Developing or improving sonar processing algorithms for detecting enemy targets.
• Modeling and simulating acoustics and sensor performance.
• Translating ideas into demonstrators and coordinating with scientists.
• Designing and conducting experiments at sea; reporting results.
• Presenting findings to stakeholders and customers.
