Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Amsterdam, NY is seeking a Class A CDL Truck Driver for local home-daily routes. You will earn weekly pay, receive comprehensive benefits after 30 days, and train on equipment as needed. The role offers 5-day weeks with at least one weekend day, and a flexible start time window from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Equipment includes 53' dry van, day cab automatics, and no-touch freight. Ryder provides 24/7 roadside support and opportunities for growth within a nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL and endorsements as required by the position.
• 21+ years of age or older.
• Pass a DOT physical and medical clearance.
• Pass a background and motor vehicle check (last 3 years).
• Freight is no-touch, drop & hook for retail merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal/state laws and company policies.
• Maintain accurate logs and records.
• Load/unload freight or assist if required by customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle
• 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
• 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
• 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
