Job description

Introduction to the job

As Manager Projects & Excellence Transport Materials, you lead the transformation and continuous improvement agenda for ASML’s global transport materials domain. You improve the end-to-end performance of reusable transport materials across suppliers, factories, logistics partners and customer-facing flows. You report to the Manager Transport Materials and operate within the Planning & Delivery (P&D) sector.

You enter a complex and evolving environment in which transport material flows are not yet consistently efficient, transparent or scalable. Your mission is to create the structure, capabilities and governance required to support ASML’s growth, while safeguarding day-to-day material availability.

You professionalize and scale the transport materials supply chain by establishing clear ownership, robust planning processes, effective governance and data-driven decision-making. This includes optimizing pool sizes from a cost, availability and sustainability perspective; securing availability at the point of use; managing external maintenance and repair partners; and driving strategic improvements that reduce waste, increase reuse and strengthen operational control.

The scope is global. Success requires alignment of roles, responsibilities and ways of working across ASML entities, sectors and external partners, while connecting strategic direction to practical execution.

Role and responsibilities

The Manager Projects & Excellence Transport Materials leads the Projects & Excellence team and drives the following key areas of responsibility for the global Transport Materials organization:

  • Lead the operational performance, quality and continuous improvement of transport material maintenance, repair and reconditioning processes in close collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain and deploy the Transport Materials Excellence roadmap, including a portfolio of cross-sector improvement initiatives, Business Capability Improvement projects, data and IT-enabled improvements, standardization and governance required to achieve agreed performance targets.
  • Translate strategic priorities into an integrated project portfolio with clear scope, ownership, milestones, dependencies, business impact and decision requirements.
  • Own the Return4Reuse application and related budget, ensuring stable performance, effective deployment and continuous improvement across relevant factories and locations.
  • Drive the global expansion of transport material registration, track-and-trace and return processes, including deployment around Veldhoven and local factories.
  • Improve availability and pool-size calculation methods to enable better planning, control, standardization and scalability.
  • Establish meaningful operational management through clear KPIs, dashboards, data ownership and transparent performance reviews, including measures for secure transport material availability.
  • Create a holistic view of future transport material flows and define which activities should be performed where and by whom, supported by robust strategies and fact-based business cases.
  • Connect ongoing projects with capability development, ensuring that improvements are embedded in the standing organization and translated into sustainable ways of working.
  • Contribute to ASML’s ESG and sustainable packaging roadmap by accelerating return and reuse flows, reducing waste and CO2 impact, and embedding circular supply chain principles in daily operations.
  • Lead, coach and develop team members and project leads, strengthening both subject-matter expertise and project management capability.
  • Act as a senior stakeholder and change leader across P&D, other ASML sectors, factories, suppliers and logistics service providers.
Education and experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, planning, operational excellence and/or business transformation in a complex high-tech environment.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience in leading teams, programs and cross-sector stakeholder fields with end-to-end improvement responsibility.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering transformation roadmaps and project portfolios with measurable business outcomes.
  • Hands‑on operational experience in transport materials, return and reuse flows, packaging, logistics operations, supplier collaboration and supply chain capability development.
  • Experience with maintenance, repair, reconditioning and external service‑provider management is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry and/or high‑tech equipment industry.
  • Experience with data‑driven performance management, KPI development, dashboards, process ownership and IT‑enabled improvement.
  • Experienced in applying Lean, Agile, BPI, operational excellence and structured problem‑solving methods to improve process performance and embed sustainable change.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
Skills

You combine strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery. You are comfortable creating direction in an environment with complex dependencies and incomplete structures, and you translate ambiguity into clear priorities, ownership and action.

  • Result‑driven: able to act under pressure, maintain focus and mobilize stakeholders with a pragmatic, can‑do mentality.
  • Self‑propelling: demonstrates ownership, curiosity, a learning mindset and a strong drive for continuous improvement.
  • Structured and analytical: able to create transparency, identify root causes and turn data into decisions and scalable solutions.
  • Collaborative: works effectively across organizational levels and professional disciplines with an open attitude and willingness to learn and share.
  • Influential: excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to persuade and align senior stakeholders, experts and external partners.
  • Change‑oriented: able to manage change, overcome resistance and persist in achieving the mission while embedding sustainable ways of working.
  • Strong communicator: listens carefully, communicates clearly and presents complex information effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Courageous and connecting: speaks up, holds constructive conversations and connects people and initiatives to the bigger picture.
  • Leadership‑focused: able to coach professionals, develop capabilities and balance team development with delivery commitments.
