Job summary

Arvato is seeking a Transport Manager at our Echt location to manage and optimize transportation operations, build strong relationships with carriers and customers, and ensure cost-effective solutions. You will use TMS/SAP to improve connectivity and service levels.

The role requires 3–6 years in transportation management, strong negotiation, and English proficiency, with a focus on performance and continuous improvement in a dynamic supply chain environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree HBO level in SCM, Logistics, or related field.
• 3–6 years’ experience in transportation or carrier management.
• Experience in fast-paced warehouse environments.
• Proficiency in English and knowledge of TMS/SAP for warehouse activities.

Responsibilities

• Manage carrier onboarding, performance reviews, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and manage contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Analyze transportation requirements and develop tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
• Optimize transportation networks, route planning, and load consolidation to improve efficiency.
• Monitor carrier performance against KPIs, including on-time delivery, transit times, and capacity utilization.
• Collaborate with carriers to secure sufficient capacity during seasonal peaks and special projects.

YOUR TASKS

As a Transport Manager, you are responsible for managing and optimizing transportation operations while building strong relationships with carriers and customers. You ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-effective transportation solutions that meet business and customer needs.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Manage carrier onboarding, performance reviews, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement;
• Develop and manage contracts, Statements of Work (SOWs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
• Analyze transportation requirements and develop tailored solutions to meet customer needs;
• Optimize transportation networks, route planning, and load consolidation to improve efficiency;
• Monitor carrier performance against KPIs, including on-time delivery, transit times, and capacity utilization, acting as an escalation point when needed;
• Collaborate with carriers to secure sufficient capacity during seasonal peaks and special projects.

You will work closely with customers and key carriers to understand their needs, service portfolios, and operational capabilities. By leveraging TMS, WMS, and other supply chain technologies, you identify opportunities to improve transportation performance and connectivity.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for an Key Account Manager who thrives in a complex contract logistics environment and enjoys building customer relationships, identifying commercial opportunities, and working in a dynamic operational setting.

You bring:

• Bachelor's degree (HBO level), preferably in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field;
• You have 3-6 years of experience in transportation management, carrier management or a related logistics role;
• Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment;
• Strong negotiation and communication skills to build and maintain positive relationships with carriers;
• Proficiency in English;
• Knowledge of TMS/SAP pertaining to warehouse activities.

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:

• Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple carriers and priorities simultaneously;
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
• You perform accurately under stressful conditions.
