Job summary

The Pivot Group Network in Holland, MI is seeking a Tool and Die Maker to design, build, and maintain tooling for production environments.

You will read blueprints, program and operate manual and CNC equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs), and work with engineers to improve tool design and manufacturing efficiency. A high school diploma or GED and an apprenticeship or equivalent experience are required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machinery (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs).

Responsibilities

• Design and build new tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.
• Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure production efficiency.
• Operate machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret blueprints and 3D models to determine tooling requirements.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues affecting manufacturing processes.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build new tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.

Recommended Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; completion of a Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs).
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tooling materials.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for precision measurement and quality control.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with 3D CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
• Certification in a specialized area (e.g., EDM, CNC programming)
• Demonstrated ability to mentor or train junior Tool and Die Makers
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience with metrology equipment and advanced inspection techniques
