Job summary

A leading electric vehicle infrastructure company in Amsterdam is seeking a Test Engineer to evaluate and enhance fast charging technologies. You will create and execute performance tests for DC fast chargers, working closely with manufacturers to improve system performance. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and hands-on testing experience. This full-time role offers a collaborative environment and a range of employee benefits.

Role

We’re on the lookout for a Test Engineer to help us push the boundaries of fast charging technology. At Fastned you’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest and greatest technology from a broad range of manufacturers. You will play a key role in evaluating and selecting the best suppliers to ensure Fastned can continue to be the best charging network. You will take the lead in creating and executing performance testing on DC fast chargers, energy management systems and battery energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

Write test plans to evaluate the performance and functionality of DC fast chargers, energy management systems and battery energy storage systems.
Define and execute electrical, mechanical and firmware tests in our Amsterdam test lab and the field.
Independently determine what to test, why and how. Based on internal goals and field feedback.
Maintain detailed documentation of test results.
Work closely with manufacturers to evaluate and improve performance based on test findings.
Technical analysis and root cause identification of hardware failures.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the EV charging industry.

Who we are looking for / Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
Strong understanding of electrical systems, embedded software, and communication protocols (OCPP, Modbus, etc.).
Hands-on experience with test tools, scripting or automation for testing purposes.
Experience in testing DC fast chargers and knowledge of EV charging systems is a strong plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable in a flexible, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and experimentation is key.
Ability to think critically, plan test approaches, and translate technical problems into structured evaluations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.
Willingness to travel occasionally for field testing and support.
