Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a Tender Engineer in the Product Line Cables & Pipelines, based in Gorinchem (NL). You will support the Tender Manager and coordinate with Engineering, Operations and Ship Management to manage tenders from invitation through bid submission.

With 7–8 years in offshore energy and a technical degree, you will analyze client requirements, develop execution strategies, and provide feasible cost estimates while communicating effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field is preferred.
• Approx. 7–8 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
• Experience in offshore energy, shallow-water pipelay or offshore cable installation.
• Customer minded with a representative attitude.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Analyze client requests and develop execution strategies.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Operations and Ship Management to craft winning bids.
• Support the Tender Team in timely, accurate production and cost estimates.
• Liaise with subcontractors in coordination with procurement.
• Organize and manage content-based tender processes and documentation.
• Continuously develop expertise by tracking market developments and opportunities.
• Lead tender activities from invitation to bid submission.

Our Offshore Energy business unit takes on multidisciplinary and complex tenders. Together with the tender team, you will be laying the foundations for successful offshore energy projects.

After Van Oord has been prequalified as a bidder for a project, a tender team is put together. You will start the new tender by going through all the project documentation and organize a tender kick-off with the team headed by the Tender Manager. You will deal with challenging projects and deadlines, so goal-oriented work and excellent communication skills are essential in this role. Next to this, you are also responsible for:

• Analysing clients requests and development of respective execution strategies;
• Coordination with relevant departments, such as Engineering, Operations and Ship Management, with the aim of drawing up winning bid leading to a successful project for Van Oord;
• Support the Tender Team in timely achieving an accurate and technically feasible production and cost estimate;
• Liaise with subcontractors in coordination with the procurement department;
• Organising and managing project-based and content-based tender processes;
• Compiling and writing tender documentation and deliverables;
• Actively developing your expertise by keeping informed on the latest developments in the market and identifying possible opportunities for Van Oord.

Your workplace

As Tender Engineer in the Product Line Cables & Pipelines, you will play an integral role in the tendering process for offshore energy projects in which your input can make the difference. You will support the Tender Manager in organising and managing the tender process from the receipt of the invitation from the contracting party to the submittal of the offer. Together with ambitious colleagues throughout the whole organisation we strive for the best results. The work location for this position will be in Gorinchem (NL).
