The (Senior) Technician, Bioanalytics will perform routine bioanalytical analyses of biological specimens derived from Research/Non‑Clinical animal studies, including specimen pulverization; nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) and protein extraction and purification; and analysis using (RT)-qPCR‑based assays (DNA, mRNA, miRNA) and immunological methods (e.g., ELISA, MSD). These activities generate data supporting (IND‑enabling) studies in small and large animal models.

Occasionally, the (Senior) Technician Bioanalytics will be designing, developing and qualifying (RT)-qPCR molecular assays and immunological methods, and writing qualification protocols.

Key Result Areas (Major Duties, Accountabilities and Responsibilities)
  • Pulverization of biological specimens
  • Processing of biological specimens using nucleic acid and protein extraction, and purification methods
  • Analysis of biological specimens using established (RT)-qPCR‑based assays (DNA, mRNA, miRNA) and immunological methods (e.g., ELISA, MSD) to generate data that supports (IND‑enabling) studies in small and large animal studies
  • Data analysis, QC checks, ELN documentation and reporting, and summarizing/presenting analytical data
  • Troubleshooting and improving current methods if required
  • Ordering and maintaining lab reagents/supplies
  • (RT)-qPCR assay design, development, and qualification (DNA, mRNA and miRNA) is a plus
  • Supporting or writing qualification protocols and reports is a plus
Qualifications & Skills
  • MLO, HLO/HBO, BSc, or MSc degree in a life sciences‑related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • DNA/RNA extraction and purification (protein extraction is a plus)
  • Affinity with routine biological specimen sample analysis, demonstrated by active involvement in analytical activities, is preferred
  • Hands‑on experience in the handling and preparation of biological samples under Microbiological Safety Level II restrictions
  • Proven ability to work independently in hands‑on laboratory setting, self‑motivated to learn and develop new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and keep accurate records
  • Affinity or experience working with automation/semi‑automation is a plus.
  • Designing, developing, qualifying, and performing (RT)-qPCR and immunological‑based assays is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (verbal, written and scientific)
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Computer software skills including Microsoft Office (Excel), GraphPad Prism (optional)
