Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and Microservices.
• Build responsive front-ends with React JS and integrate with back-end services.
• Lead architectural design discussions and code reviews.
• Mentor developers and drive DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure performance, security, scalability, and reliability.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist with strong expertise in Java, Microservices Architecture, and React JS to join our growing technology team in The Hague. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable enterprise applications while providing technical leadership across the software development lifecycle.

This role requires a hands‑on technical expert who can collaborate with cross‑functional teams, drive architectural decisions, mentor developers, and ensure delivery of high‑quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using Java and modern Microservices architecture.
• Build responsive and scalable front‑end applications using React JS.
• Drive technical design discussions and architecture reviews.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with third‑party systems and services.
• Ensure application performance, security, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and QA teams.
• Perform code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
• Mentor and guide junior and senior developers on technical challenges.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Core Java (Java 8/11/17+).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security.
• Strong experience in Microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of API Gateway, Service Discovery, Messaging, and Event‑Driven Architecture.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, etc.).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Expertise in Git and version control practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in large‑scale enterprise or government environments.
• Knowledge of domain‑driven design (DDD) and design patterns.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
• Understanding of security best practices and OAuth2/JWT authentication.
• Certifications in Java, Cloud, or Agile methodologies are an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives and complex development projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
