The Set Company in Amsterdam seeks a Technical Specialist to turn ideas into working installations. You’ll build lighting systems, interactive elements, sensors, and electronics for bespoke projects across Europe.
Work is fast-paced and hands-on, with projects ranging from brand activations to film sets. You’ll prototype solutions, test tirelessly, and collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver robust installations onsite.
The Set grew out of the world of high-end set construction for film and television. Today, we primarily build physical brand experiences for international brands and ambitious agencies across Europe. From pop-ups and retail interiors to brand activations and film sets. Everything is designed, built, and tested at our production facility in Amsterdam.
Our work is technical, fast-paced, and rarely straightforward. Projects evolve, deadlines close in, and solutions often need to be found on the spot. That’s exactly what makes it interesting.
That’s why we’re looking for a Technical Specialist who thrives on complex technical challenges and enjoys turning ideas into working installations.
As a Technical Specialist, you’ll work on the technical side of our productions. You’ll build the systems that bring our installations to life: lighting, interactive elements, sensors, and electronics.
A typical week might include:
Every project is bespoke. Think:
No two projects are the same.
This is not standard installation work.
You won’t be working with fixed systems you install over and over. Many projects call for new solutions, prototypes, or purpose-built electronics.
You’ll be working with things like:
All within a workshop where almost everything happens under one roof:
You’re someone who likes to figure things out and get them done. You stay level-headed under pressure, think in solutions, and enjoy working on technically demanding projects.
You ideally also bring:
Experience in installation engineering, events, electronics, or creative productions is a plus.
We’re a specialised team with a long history in retail and set construction. That means:
Around production periods, evening or weekend work may occasionally be required. In return, you’ll be working on projects you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.
The Set was founded in the 1990s as a set construction company for film and television. That background still shapes the way we work. Quick to adapt, technically strong, always inventive. Today, we bring that same mentality to retail interiors, pop-ups, and brand activations for clients across Europe.
We kindly ask agencies not to respond to this vacancy.
