Job summary

PHIX is seeking a Team Manager Process & Manufacturing Engineering in the Netherlands to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing, industrializing, and continuously improving advanced photonic assembly and packaging processes. You will drive New Product Introduction and ensure successful transfer of products into production, while coaching engineers and applying Lean Six Sigma.

Qualifications

  • MSc degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production environments.
  • Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma, with proven examples of applying continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong technical background in precision assembly, semiconductor packaging, photonics, or related manufacturing technologies.
  • Fluency in English; Dutch language preferable or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Process- and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure successful transfer of products and processes into production.
  • Support operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma tools for improvements in quality, yield, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain strong technical expertise in die bonding, polishing, dicing, and automated optical assembly to guide process development, troubleshooting, industrialization, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Define team priorities, resource allocation, and development roadmaps to support business growth and manufacturing scale‑up.
  • Collaborate closely with customers, development teams, and production operations to deliver robust and scalable manufacturing solutions.

As Team Manager Process & Manufacturing Engineering at PHIX, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of process- and manufacturing engineers responsible for developing, industrializing, and continuously improving advanced photonic assembly and packaging processes. In addition to providing day-to-day leadership, you will support the professional growth and development of your team members through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and capability building.

Together with your team, you will drive process innovation and lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring the successful industrialization and transfer of products and processes into production. As part of a fast-growing organization, you will have the opportunity to work closely with customers, development teams, and production operations, balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement to deliver robust, scalable manufacturing solutions for next‑generation photonic integrated circuit (PIC) products.

  • Practical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent reporting and documentation capabilities.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch or willingness to learn.
