Job summary

Fokker Services Group is seeking a Team Lead Electrical & Avionics Engineering in the Netherlands. You will oversee and mentor a 30-person team, ensure adherence to engineering guidelines, and coordinate with Lead Engineers, Project Managers and Program Managers to optimize delivery.

The role includes 50% operational engineering work as a Design, Service, or Systems Engineer, with strong emphasis on people management and process improvements within the Completion & Engineering Services

Qualifications

  • HBO work and thinking level in aerospace and/or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and certification processes.
  • Experience with engineering workflows and processes.
  • Strong affinity for people management.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

The Team Lead Electrical & Avionics Engineering is responsible for overseeing and managing the team’s workflow, ensuring smooth operations and supporting employees with challenges and inquiries. They ensure that departmental guidelines, as defined by the Head of Engineering, are properly implemented and followed. The role also coaches and mentors team members, conducting Performance Development meetings after approval from the Head of Engineering. Additionally, the Team Lead advises the Head of Engineering on employment conditions and personnel matters while managing absenteeism within the team and ensuring accurate time registration in the Time Registration System for all team members. They supervise the quality and scope of results within the engineering disciplines, ensuring optimal execution processes by guiding and coordinating team members effectively. Working closely with Lead Engineers, Project Managers, and Program Managers, the Team Lead distributes workloads, maintains oversight of capacity planning and resource allocation, and escalates any critical issues to the Head of Engineering with proposed solutions in a timely manner.

Communication & Collaboration

Collaboration is essential in this role. The Team Lead works closely with colleagues across the organization to discuss engineering processes and best practices, provide advice to the Head of Engineering regarding engineering activities and project progress, and actively engage in discussions with management to propose and implement process improvements.

People Management & Operational Role

The Team Lead advises the Head of Engineering on resource planning for their team, both in terms of quantity and quality. They provide input on workforce planning, employment conditions, and personnel‑related matters. People management is a key responsibility, which includes conducting one‑on‑one meetings, fostering professional growth, and ensuring effective workforce allocation to meet project demands. The Team Lead manages one of the teams within the Completion & Engineering Services department, with a strong focus on people management. In addition to the leadership role, the Team Lead spends approximately 50% of their time in an operational role as a Design, Service, or Systems Engineer. The team consists of 30 members.

  • HBO work and thinking level, in the direction of aerospace engineering and/or electrical engineering or a comparable field.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and certification processes.
  • Experience with engineering workflows and processes.
  • Strong affinity for people management.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
