Join to apply for the Sustainability Project Manager role at Tony’s Chocolonely
Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony’s Open Chain (TOC), mission allies such as Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry’s, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate.
Job Description
We are looking for a Sustainability Project Manager to join our sustainability team in Amsterdam. The main goal of this new role is to execute sustainability projects, with a focus on sustainable sourcing, carbon reduction and social impact initiatives. You will build key projects from the ground up, define new sustainability standards, and work directly with our supplier partners globally and cross‑functionally. If you are an experienced project manager and want to make a serious impact in the world of chocolate, we are looking for you! You’ll be part of our global Operations team and report to the Head of Sustainability.
What You Will Do
- Sustainable sourcing – implement and follow up on sustainable sourcing policies across all suppliers and ingredients outside of cocoa, conduct regular risk assessments, support procurement in sustainable sourcing, assess suppliers, support decision‑making, track progress and provide analytical insights.
- Supplier engagement – support onboarding and work closely with key suppliers to co‑develop improvement initiatives, share best practices, and monitor and track progress to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Climate and nature projects – support the team in carbon reduction and agriculture projects by contributing to project planning, execution and reporting, and help integrate sustainability into wider efficiency projects.
- Social impact initiatives – initiate, design and manage social impact projects with relevant partners to address identified risks, work closely with our TOC team, and monitor and report on project outcomes, ensuring transparency, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Internal coordination – align efforts across departments and drive internal upskilling by organising training sessions, leading sustainability storytelling and organising events to strengthen awareness and foster a culture of sustainability.
Job Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in sustainability, supply chain or project management within a corporate or NGO setting.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with tight deadlines and translating strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Understanding of ESG topics and sustainability practices, especially in sourcing, logistics, operations and social impact.
- Solid experience managing stakeholders and clear communication skills.
- Challenge yourself and the team to increase ambition and learn from mistakes.
- Flexibility but presence in the office on average 3 days a week.
- Believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s purpose and live our core values: In it together, Entrepreneurial, Outspoken, Make you smile, and Raise the bar.
