Job description

Nissui Europe is the European regional headquarters of the Nissui Group, a Japanese seafood and food company with over 100 years of history. Across the Netherlands, the UK, France and Denmark, our companies process and supply chilled and frozen seafood products to retailers and foodservice customers, with 17 processing sites across Europe.

Sustainability is central to the Group's long-term vision, "GOOD FOODS 2030", which aims to make Nissui a leading company that delivers friendly foods for people and the earth. Key commitments include sourcing 100% of our marine resources from sustainable sources by 2030 and reducing our environmental footprint, including CO₂ emissions and plastic use. In Europe, we are now building group-wide sustainability data and reporting processes ahead of our first CSRD report (FY2027).

The role

Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, you will be the backbone of our sustainability data. You will work with colleagues across our subsidiaries to collect, check and consolidate data, and help turn it into CSRD-compliant reporting. This is a unique opportunity to help build our first CSRD report (FY2027) from the ground up, while developing your expertise alongside an experienced team lead.

What you will do
  • Coordinate sustainability data collection across subsidiaries (energy, fuel, waste, packaging, HR and other ESRS datapoints)
  • Validate data quality: review invoices and source documents, follow up on gaps and keep a clear audit trail
  • Support GHG accounting (Scope 1, 2 and 3) in line with the GHG Protocol and maintain data in our ESG platform
  • Help prepare CSRD disclosures and evidence for limited assurance, including clear audit documentation in Word and PowerPoint (e.g. methodology notes, process descriptions and supporting files)
  • Act as a day-to-day contact for site and finance colleagues, and help them understand data requirements
What you bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in sustainability, environmental science, energy, engineering or a related field
  • 2–5 years of work experience in sustainability, energy or ESG reporting
  • Hands-on experience with carbon accounting (GHG Protocol) and/or energy data
  • Working knowledge of CSRD/ESRS and EU sustainability regulation
  • Strong Excel and data skills, attention to detail and a structured way of working
  • Ability to produce clear, well-structured documentation and presentations in Word and PowerPoint
  • Confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels, in fluent English
  • Ability to explain complex sustainability and data topics clearly, tailored to different audiences
  • A proactive and independent mindset, with an eye for continuously improving processes and ways of working
  • Eligibility to work in the Netherlands (visa sponsorship is not available)
Nice to have
  • Dutch and/or French
  • Experience with ESG data platforms or assurance processes
  • Experience in food, manufacturing or supply chain environments
What we offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits: an 8% holiday allowance, a pension scheme, a travel allowance and 26 days of annual leave, plus a laptop and mobile phone
  • Hybrid working: two days a week at our office in the Amsterdam area, with the rest of the week working from home
  • A small, international team: work closely with our Sustainability Manager and colleagues across the Netherlands, the UK, France and Denmark
  • A meaningful role: gain broad exposure to CSRD implementation across our European operations and play a hands-on part in building our first CSRD report, directly supporting the Nissui Group's GOOD FOODS 2030 ambitions
  • Room to develop: build your expertise in CSRD, ESRS and carbon accounting through hands-on experience, training and coaching, with opportunities to grow as our sustainability reporting matures
