Job summary

Accenture offers a 6‑month internship in Amsterdam within the Supply Chain & Engineering AI team. You will work on AI‑driven projects, combining consulting, engineering, and applied AI disciplines, while developing real solutions for leading clients.

You will write your thesis alongside practical tasks, collaborate with an international team, and be present at the main office in Amsterdam at least three days a week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing master's degree in Computer Science/AI at a Dutch university.
• Strong Python skills and backend scripting.
• Experience with AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras).
• Familiar with Git and GitHub (Actions, Projects).
• Knowledge of cloud and container technologies (Azure, Docker, Linux).
• Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus.
• Interested in consulting and digital transformations.
• Able to work in Agile, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct your thesis research in AI within SC&E.
• Prototype and deploy AI solutions from data pipelines and experiments.
• Collaborate with Accenture colleagues to gain insights into strategy and consulting.

The team

In general, SC&E is a diverse and dynamic team of innovators, visionaries, and problem solvers in the fields of Engineering and Manufacturing.

You will join the AI Engineering team, which focuses on the next‑generation R&D and imagining and reinventing the future of Products and the end‑to‑end Product journey from the initial design, to managing Product Lifecycle Systems, their Sustainable Footprint and the ultimate retiring and replacement. Within PES we specialise in companies that focus on product development, so we are mainly active in Research & Development departments. Here we enable industry‑leading clients to optimise their business processes and efficiency through AI.

Daily tasks

As an intern at SC&E, you will work in collaboration with our colleagues to conduct your thesis research and assignment in one of the relevant research areas listed below. Key is that your thesis will research challenges or opportunities we see at our clients and that new AI‑driven business solutions or opportunities can be defined based on the input of our experts. Depending on the assignment, you may prototype and deploy working AI solutions from data pipelines and model experiments to proof‑of‑concept applications. During your internship you’ll connect with many SC&E colleagues from Accenture and gain valuable insight into the world of strategy & consulting. Your work location is at the main office in Amsterdam, where you will be required to be present at least 3 days a week.

Research

Research groups:

• Defining R&D and AI strategies: Helping clients shape their long‑term vision and roadmap for R&D and AI‑driven digital transformation.
• Improving engineering and business processes: Analyzing current ways of working and redesigning product development processes through workshops, interviews, and practical improvements – including where generative AI and automation can accelerate them.
• Implementing AI solutions: Supporting the rollout of technologies such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms and AI‑enabled solutions like RAG systems, LLM orchestration, and computer vision.
• Driving sustainability initiatives: Setting up frameworks, processes, and data‑driven insights that help companies reach their sustainability goals.

Here's what you'll need

• You are nearing completion of your master's at a Dutch University in Computer Science, AI, or a related technical field, and are searching for work experience within the field of SC&E.
• You have a passion for new technologies in the field of Engineering or Manufacturing and are eager to work on these from either the strategic/consulting side or the technology/developer side.
• Development: Hands‑on experience with Python (scripting and backend) and modern web technologies, gained through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
• AI coding tools: Exposure to AI‑assisted development environments such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
• Version control: Comfortable with Git and GitHub (Actions, Projects, advanced version control).
• Cloud & containers: Some exposure to deploying applications on Azure, and familiarity with Docker and Linux.
• Data Science & AI: Familiarity with at least one ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras) and a good understanding of Deep Learning (Computer Vision) and Generative AI concepts (RAG, LLM orchestration). A grasp of deploying AI logic to edge environments is a plus.
• You are fluent in English (verbal and written); Dutch is a strong asset.
• You're interested in starting a career in the field of consulting and digital business transformations.
• You are a team player; you are professional and precise, comfortable working in an Agile, multidisciplinary environment.
• You can work independently and have a hands‑on, proactive mentality.
