Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
The Member Company is seeking a cable and pipeline supervisor to manage excavation notifications, ensure drawings, permits, and traffic plans are complete, and prevent conflicts with city activities.
You will oversee contractors working in the public space, enforce permit requirements, and safeguard residents and visitors. You will coordinate inspections and contribute to permit decisions, with occasional emergency service duties.
Every day, you process excavation notifications from contractors and network operators in a digital notification system. You check these notifications for completeness: are the working drawings, permits, and traffic plans included? You also verify that the planned date and time don't conflict with other activities in the public space. If there are uncertainties, you contact the notifier and either approve or reject the excavation notification.
Additionally, you are responsible for daily supervision of contractors carrying out work in the public space on behalf of network operators. This includes repairing water pipes, upgrading the electricity grid, or laying data cables. Where necessary, you enforce requirements from municipal permits, the handbook on cables and pipelines, and other relevant regulations—for instance, the use of appropriate barriers around the work area or ensuring accessibility to homes and shops. You guarantee the safety of residents and visitors in the city.
You also handle questions and complaints about the work carried out by contractors and network operators in two digital notification systems. This could be a query about when the work will be completed or a complaint from a resident unable to access their front door. You contact the contractor or network operator, ensure the question or complaint is addressed, and resolve it administratively afterward.
The city is large, so you perform this work alongside another cable and pipeline supervisor. You work closely with the coordinator and the permit issuer. At their request, you arrange site inspections with contractors and network operators to assess the feasibility of planned activities. Your input contributes to whether a permit application is approved or rejected. Additionally, you participate in the emergency service for several weeks a year.
