In the heart of Zaandam is the oldest secondary school in the Zaan region: the Zaanlands Lyceum. With extraordinary customisation, we are committed to finding and developing the talents of 1189 pupils. Our school has an open and tolerant culture and offers high-quality education.
We profile ourselves as a knowledge school, but at the same time pay a lot of attention to the personal development of our pupils. We contribute to the development of our pupils into critical, independent and confident citizens who are ready for the future.
Our educational organisation is structured in such a way that we can offer our pupils a great deal of customisation. Pupils with cognitive talent are challenged to explore the limits of their abilities. This means accelerating, enriching, deepening or broadening, with the pupil retaining a high degree of ownership of his own learning process.
We offer modern, challenging and high-quality education, in which both pupils and staff can develop their talents. We encourage our staff to develop personally in line with their aptitude, competences and ambitions.
Zaanlands Lyceum obtained the designation 'Excellent School' for its vwo department, mainly because of the customisation we offer cognitive talent and what this means for the rest of the school. In addition, we are a member of the Association of Gifted Profile Schools (BPS), we are a Beta Partner and Olympiad School and offer very many extra-curricular opportunities for pupils and colleagues.
