For our office in Schiedam (The Netherlands), we are looking for a structural engineer who likes variety. You will be responsible for the structural integrity of our CP products and play a key engineering and project role in a new product line for offshore wind.
This is not a role where you stay behind one screen. Next to calculations, you will coordinate projects, talk with suppliers and clients, and help wherever the team needs you. We are looking for a true multi-skilled professional who is eager to learn and embrace new opportunities.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Perform strength calculations for ICCP anodes, mounting brackets, cable protection and other CP products
- Carry out ULS and FLS (fatigue) assessments in line with offshore standards such as DNV and Eurocode
- Assess vortex-induced vibration (ViV) risk for subsea and splash-zone components
- Build and run FEM models, and check results with hand calculations
- Write clear calculation reports and design notes for clients and certifying bodies
- Review drawings and give design input to improve strength, weight and manufacturability
- Lead the structural design of a new offshore wind product, from concept to delivery
- Translate client specifications and standards into design requirements
- Support material selection, fabrication methods and testing
- Write user manuals, assembly and installation instructions, and other product documentation
Project management
- Coordinate engineering deliverables, planning and document control for your projects
- Be the technical contact for clients, suppliers, fabricators and third-party verifiers
- Review technical parts of RFQs, tenders and contracts
- Monitor progress, risks and changes, and report to management
Broader team support
- Help colleagues with technical questions across CP, anti-fouling and offshore projects
- Contribute to product development, quotations and process improvement
- Occasional travel to suppliers, yards or client offices
Must have
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Offshore Engineering
- At least 3 years of experience in structural design for offshore, marine or heavy steel structures
- Hands-on experience with ULS, FLS and ViV calculations
- Proficient in FEM software (for example ANSYS, Abaqus, SACS, SCIA or Femap) and tools such as
Mathcad or Python
- Working knowledge of relevant standards (DNV, Eurocode, ISO)
- Experience with, or a clear interest in, project coordination
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage
Who you are
- A hands-on all-rounder who is happy to switch between tasks
- Curious, willing to learn and not afraid to take on something new
- Independent, but a real team player in a small company
- Practical and solution-oriented, with clear communication skills
What we offer
- A varied role with real responsibility from day one
- The chance to shape a new product line in offshore wind
- A small, informal team where your contribution is visible
- Room to grow in engineering, project management or both
- International projects and an energy-transition market
- Competitive salary and benefits, based on experience
