ABN AMRO Bank N.V. is seeking an experienced Strategy Advisor to shape and deliver Data & AI initiatives across the bank. You will translate ambiguous questions into executive-aligned roadmaps, operating models and measurable change while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

You combine strategy consulting rigor with data and AI insight, engaging senior leaders and turning strategic decisions into concrete actions, governance, and outcomes across the enterprise.

Your job

Data and AI are changing customer expectations, business models and how organisations make decisions. For ABN AMRO, success requires clear strategic choices, enterprise-wide capabilities and responsible execution.

As Strategy Advisor - Data & AI, you will join the Governance & Strategy team within the Central Data & AI Office (CDAO). Working closely with the Chief Data & AI Officer and senior leaders, you will structure ambiguous questions, develop distinctive perspectives, create executive alignment and translate decisions into action. The role combines the intellectual challenge and variety of strategy consulting with sustained ownership of outcomes.

What you will do

• Lead or shape strategic assignments at the intersection of business strategy, data, AI, technology, risk and regulation.
• Turn complex analysis into clear choices, recommendations and decision-ready narratives for senior leadership.
• Define enterprise direction, capability roadmaps and operating models for responsible Data & AI adoption.
• Mobilise multidisciplinary teams across business lines, data domains, technology, risk, legal and compliance.
• Assess market, technology and regulatory developments and translate them into implications for ABN AMRO.
• Stay engaged beyond the recommendation, helping convert strategic decisions into priorities, ownership and executable change.

• Where can data and AI create meaningful and sustainable value for customers and the bank?
• Which capabilities are needed to adopt generative and agentic AI responsibly and at scale?
• How should accountabilities across business, data and technology work in a federated Data & AI landscape?
• How can high-quality, well-governed data be made available for analytics and AI?
• How should the bank use and govern unstructured data, including documents, text, voice and images?
• How can ABN AMRO accelerate innovation while meeting regulatory, ethical, security and risk requirements?

Examples of assignments

• Define the enterprise direction and capability roadmap for scaling generative and agentic AI responsibly.
• Design accountabilities and an operating model for a strategic Data & AI capability.
• Develop strategic choices, an investment case and a transformation roadmap for responsible use of unstructured data.
• Assess an external technology or regulatory development and prepare clear choices for senior leadership.

• Executives can make faster, better-informed decisions because choices and trade-offs are clear.
• Business, technology, data, risk and governance align without losing strategic focus.

You will work within the Central Data & AI Office, Governance & Strategy, and collaborate with CDAO teams, IT, architecture, data domains, business lines, CISO, legal, compliance and risk. Your profile

You are an experienced strategist or consultant who enjoys making sense of complexity. You combine analytical rigour with curiosity, sound judgment and a collaborative approach. You can challenge established thinking constructively, communicate with precision and adapt your story to executive, business and technical audiences.

Essential experience

• Significant experience in strategy or management consulting, corporate strategy or a comparable internal advisory role.
• A track record of structuring ambiguous enterprise questions and translating analysis into clear executive choices.
• Experience advising senior decision-makers and aligning stakeholders with different perspectives.
• Relevant experience in Data, AI, analytics, data management or data governance.
• The ability to translate strategic recommendations into roadmaps, operating models and executable change.

Helpful, but not required

• Experience leading enterprise-wide Data & AI initiatives.
• Familiarity with frameworks or regulation such as DAMA-DMBOK, Data Mesh, BCBS 239 or the EU AI Act.
• A Master’s degree or equivalent academic and professional experience.
