Job summary

UMCG Research BV in Groningen seeks a Project Manager to shape, structure, and strategically steer complex research projects, translating ambitious collaborations into tangible results and guiding decisions that advance science.

You will coordinate international consortia, lead grant applications and funding trajectories, monitor progress, risk, and budgets, and connect researchers, clinicians, and support services; you’ll speak English (and Dutch) and help strengthen collaboration practices

Qualifications

• Completed HBO or WO degree.
• 3+ years of experience in a complex research, funding, or international collaboration environment.
• Experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills with oversight across multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills in English and Dutch.
• Experience with grant-funded projects, research organisations, knowledge institutions, healthcare organisations, or public-sector organisations is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Shape, structure, and strategically steer complex research projects throughout the lifecycle.
• Act as advisor, organiser, facilitator, and connector for researchers and consortia.
• Coordinate consortium meetings, brainstorming sessions, and workshops.
• Monitor progress, quality, risks, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate contract negotiations and ensure agreements align with objectives.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and professionalisation of the research PM field.
