Job summary

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Amsterdam is seeking a experienced Humanitarian Affairs Advisor for a 32-hour per week maternity cover. You will provide strategic analysis, advocacy and advice to MSF country programmes and HQ on humanitarian affairs and positioning.

The role involves monitoring political and humanitarian dynamics, developing advocacy plans, coaching country teams, and representing MSF in external forums.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in law, social sciences, political sciences or another relevant field.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in humanitarian affairs.
• Fluency in English and another relevant language; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice, support and coaching to country teams on humanitarian affairs and advocacy.
• Monitor political, social, humanitarian and operational dynamics and provide actionable recommendations.
• Develop and implement humanitarian analysis and advocacy plans with external partners.
• Produce high-quality briefing papers, analyses, and positioning documents.
