Job summary

Unisys is seeking a hands-on Storage & Network Field Service Engineer to join our Netherlands-based field services team. You will provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and break/fix services for enterprise storage, server, and networking equipment at customer locations nationwide.

You will travel daily across the Netherlands, primarily around Utrecht/Amsterdam, and participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule with compensation for standby.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of field services/infrastructure support experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing enterprise hardware.
• Familiarity with server, storage, and networking technologies.
• Understanding of Cisco networking equipment and basic network configuration.
• Ability to diagnose technical issues and perform hardware replacements independently.
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Valid driving license.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, de-installation, configuration, and maintenance of network, server, and storage equipment.
• Provide break/fix support for enterprise infrastructure, including storage systems, servers, controllers, and network devices.
• Diagnose hardware and infrastructure issues and determine remediation actions.
• Replace faulty components and restore systems to operation within service levels.
• Install and connect network devices and perform basic on-site configuration activities.
• Conduct hardware testing, certification, and validation after installation or repair.
• Use ticketing systems and technical documentation for accurate case management.
• Coordinate with remote teams, vendors, and customers to resolve complex issues.

Location: Netherlands (Preference for Utrecht Region)

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Storage & Network Field Service Engineer to join our field services team in the Netherlands. In this role, you will provide on-site technical support, installation, maintenance, and break/fix services for enterprise storage, server, and networking equipment at customer locations across the country. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical issues in the field, and interacting directly with customers. You will support leading telecommunications and enterprise clients, working with technologies from our vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, de-installation, configuration, and maintenance of network, server, and storage equipment.
• Deliver break/fix support for enterprise infrastructure, including storage systems, servers, controllers, and network devices.
• Diagnose hardware and infrastructure issues and determine appropriate remediation actions.
• Replace faulty components and restore systems to operational status within agreed service levels.
• Install and connect network devices and perform basic on-site configuration activities.
• Execute hardware testing, certification, and validation following installation or repair.
• Work with ticketing systems and technical documentation to ensure accurate case management.
• Coordinate with remote technical teams, vendors, and customers to resolve complex issues.
• Travel daily to customer sites across the Netherlands.
• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule approximately every three weeks.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent technical education.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience in field services, infrastructure support, networking, storage, or server technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing enterprise hardware.
• Familiarity with server, storage, and networking technologies.
• Understanding of Cisco networking equipment and basic network configuration.
• Ability to diagnose technical issues and perform hardware replacements independently.
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Valid driving license.
• Strong communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cisco networking solutions.
• Experience supporting Dell EMC, PureStorage storage platforms or similar enterprise storage technologies.
• Background in telecommunications or data center environments.
• Technical certifications in networking, servers, storage, or related disciplines.
• Dutch language skills are a plus.

What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day

• Traveling to customer locations throughout the Netherlands.
• Installing and maintaining telecom, storage, and network infrastructure.
• Replacing failed disks, controllers, and other hardware components.
• Performing diagnostics and determining corrective actions for infrastructure incidents.
• Working independently while remaining connected to a close-knit engineering team.
• Supporting clients during both planned installations and emergency break/fix situations.

Working Environment

• Field-based role with regular travel to customer sites.
• Preference for candidates located in the Utrecht region, with many customer locations situated around Utrecht and Amsterdam.
• Small, experienced team consisting of three engineers.
• After initial onboarding and training, the role offers a high degree of autonomy and independence.
• Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation with additional compensation for standby coverage.
